Here are some past puppy owners thoughts on our business.
Our story with S& L Breeders and the Housey’s began in January of 2011. After having had to put down our 13 year old Brittany, we were not sure if we wanted to do that again. After lots of thought and pros and cons we decided we would like another Brittany. I started searching the web for Minnesota Breeders and found S&L. We did lots of email communication and asked Shannon lots of questions.
We found out that they had both parents for the breeding of the new litter of puppies. Lady came into heat and we put our name on the list. The Housey’s were very good about sending info and pictures of Lady and finally, April 24, our little girl, Britta was born with 8 brothers and sisters.
Again there were lots of pictures of the new family. We met the family when the pups were about two weeks old and picked out our little girl.
The week before the pups were quite ready to be picked up (7 weeks) we found out that we were going to be in the Cities and asked Shannon if we could pick ours up early and save us three hours of driving. Between her and her husband, they were most agreeable to work it out with us and sent us home with a chew toy, some dog food for a couple of days and of course all her papers and records. We have now been home one week with our lively, smart little girl, and can honestly say we had a great experience with Shannon and Tony of S&L Breeders

We just wanted to email you and thank you again for letting us purchase pebbles from you. She has been the joy in our life and in her sister bell’s life also. I have included a few pictures of her and her sister. I took pebbles out the 2nd week of pheasant season this year just to see what she could do. She wanted to follow me where I went on Saturday, on Sunday however she went with a couple other dogs and realized what she was suppose to do she started hunting. It wasn’t long into the that when she locked on her First real Bird. Me being the great shot that I am missed of course but she was off to the races after another one. On her second lock in the same hunt a nice big rooster jumped and I was able to hit and drop him. She wasn’t sure what to do on that point but the other dogs went after it so she followed. Made my dream come true that’s for sure. One thing Kim and I were not expecting but doesn’t surprise me on her is how cuddly she is. She is so cuddly and so willing to please you that she just makes for a great great companion.
When we decided to start seeking out a Brittany puppy, S & L Brittany’s was one of a handful of breeders that had dogs on the way. We were immediately drawn to the desire to breed dogs that are as much family pets as they are hunters. We also loved that they make these puppies a part of their family, introducing them to adults and children to help the socialization process right away. From the moment we sent out an email inquiring about the puppies Cindy was quick to communicate with us, kept us updated on their progress, and always went above and beyond to answer our questions. It was great to meet the litter and the mother and see their personalities in action. The Haglin’s ensured we were well prepared to bring Bosley home. They provided some food, a piece of the litter blanket to make him comfortable as well as all of his paper work and pictures for our records. Bosley has been a wonderful addition to our family spending days pointing at everything that flys and spends his evenings snuggling up with us as close as he can. We are very happy we chose S&L Brittany’s and would not hesitate to work with them again in the future.
Thanks Haglins!

When my husband and I began our search earlier this year for a Brittany pup, we knew we found the right breeder when we came across an advertisement that read “Good hunters, and even better pets!”
When we met Shannon and Tony, they let us spend almost two hours getting to know each puppy’s personality. They wanted us to be sure that we found the right dog to fit our family, and were helpful with information about the breed and bloodlines. Their family includes both the mother and father, and we found it helpful to see the temperaments and physical traits our puppy would have as an adult.
When we were finally able to make a choice between all the puppies, Shannon and Tony sent us home with supplies for our first days, a photo album with pictures of our puppy’s growth since birth, and a wish that we kept in touch with our puppy’s growth. Since then, we’ve shared pictures and stories of Beau, and also asked questions about training her correctly!
We are SO happy with our little Beau. She has proved to have a natural instinct for retrieving and pointing, and picks up training easily. She is great with children of all ages, and is truly an affectionate dog!

My husband and I were first time "puppy parents". The Housey's were very helpful in explaining the bloodlines and characteristics of the Brittany breed. We were given ample time to get to know the pups, then she introduced us to their parents who were on-site. They have a genuine love of their hunting dogs and that shines through. We were sent home with the pup, a toy, a puppy book, and reassurance they would be there to answer our questions if any came up.
We are very happy with our female brittany. She was very easy to house train. We have a new baby and she is great with her. She is curious but knows to keep a proper distance.
Remie is already showing an interest in hunting. We brought her out in the field early on and she seems excited to learn and show off her natural talent. We look forward to hunting with her this fall as an older puppy!
